About Us
Empowering Every Ability—Our Story, Our Purpose
IAD is a civil society organization
founded on October 25, 2022, by five Ethiopian persons with disabilities. We
were established out of a deep concern for the violations of the basic rights
of persons with disabilities and the significant accessibility problems in
Ethiopia. Our recognition license was provided by the FDRE Agency for Civil
Society Organizations (ACSO) on January 26, 2023 (18/05/2015 EC) with
certificate number 6645.
What We Do
We empower individuals, engage communities, and influence policies through three main service pillars
Advocacy Programs
We amplify the voices of persons with disabilities by influencing policies, promoting human rights, and raising public awareness about accessibility, inclusion, and equality.
Accessibility Consulting
We support public institutions, private organizations, and infrastructure developers to create inclusive environments by providing expert guidance on accessibility standards, inclusive design, and disability-friendly policies.
Community Outreach
We connect with local communities to deliver training, mentorship, and support services that enhance the social, educational, and economic participation of persons with disabilities.
